The Pedersen Family Grant for Student Research
The Red Sea Institute for Anthropological Research is pleased to announce a granting opportunity for students studying aspects of the human interaction with the Red Sea.
This privately-funded bi-annual grant, administered by the institute, is open to all students studying at the master’s degree level in anthropology, archaeology, and ethnography. The grant is intended to aid students in their thesis research for travel and accommodations or other expenses related to their field, library, or museum research. The grant is not intended to cover costs for students to participate in other's research projects, nor to cover educational or other expenses outside their research.
The grant amount is US five hundred dollars (US$ 500.00).

Students from Red Sea and East African countries are encouraged to apply. Please check pertinent regulations and restrictions regarding international bank transfers, and other related subjects, from the United States before applying, if applicable.

- Your curriculum vitae.
- A proposal about the research, along with its importance to our field, of approximately 5 pages, not including citations and bibliography.
- Full contact details for the chair of your thesis committee.
- A note about other sources of funding being applied for or in hand.

Other details:
- The grant cannot be used for educational expenses, conference costs, or membership fees.
- The research must be completed within one year of the award. At that time a report and a full accounting of how the grant was spent must be submitted to the institute.
- When presenting your research at conferences, symposia, or other venues, you will credit The Pedersen Family Grant for Student Research and The Red Sea Institute for Anthropological Research.
- Upon completion of the thesis, you agree to submit an official bound copy of the thesis to the institute.
- All submission must be made in English.
